Build Your Own Firewood
date October 16
Split wood, not hairs!
Clean up your landscape and create some firewood in the process. Not only will you have fun cutting some wood, but you'll also cut your heating bill! Plus, nothing beats those cozy nights by the fire.
The first step is to delimb the trunk of the tree and then cut the trunk into 1.5 to 2 foot chunks. You will need a chain saw for this first step. If you don't have your own, we can rent you one and show you how to use it. (Note: All of our chainsaws go out with a brand new chain!)
The second step is to rent a log splitter to split up the sections of trunk you cut. Using a log splitter is really easy. If you can hold down a lever, you can split wood. No more back-breaking ax-swinging necessary. Our log splitters use 26 tons of force and set up vertically, so all you have to do is slide the log into the unit and it will split it like butter!
The last step - ENJOY! Sit back and relax with a cup of hot coffee or hot chocolate and enjoy some time by the fire. Or for the more adventurous souls, make a small campfire and roast some marshmallows with the kids.
